AI doesn't cite you because the foundation isn't there to cite.

LLMs don’t crawl the web like Googlebot. They pick a small set of trusted sources, parse structured signals, and surface citations. The reason your brand isn’t in the answer is almost always one of three things.

Invisible to the chatbot

Your brand exists on Google but not in the LLM’s decision space. Your blog gets indexed by Googlebot; it doesn’t get cited by ChatGPT. No reviews on third-party sites, no Wikipedia entry, no presence in the data the AI trusts.

Cited for the wrong thing
